President Ramchandra Paudel met with New Zealand’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister, Winston Peters, on Wednesday at the President’s Office in Shital Niwas.
During the meeting, President Paudel shared Nepal’s aim of becoming a middle-income country by 2030. He said that to reach this goal, it is important to grow trade, attract investment and improve development cooperation. He asked for New Zealand’s support in these areas.
The head of the state also talked about the strong ties between Nepal and New Zealand, especially their shared views and cooperation in international matters. He hoped New Zealand would help Nepal make steady progress in its economy through closer trade and development partnerships.
President Paudel also spoke about the common threat of climate change. He pointed out that both countries are affected and called for working together to protect the Himalayan region and the people living there.
