An all-party meeting called by President Ramchandra Paudel began on Friday afternoon at Sheetal Niwas, focusing on the upcoming House of Representatives election scheduled for March 5 (Falgun 21).

The discussion brought together representatives from major political parties, including the Nepali Congress, CPN-UML, and CPN (Maoist Centre), as well as other parties that were part of the dissolved parliament.

The Nepali Congress was represented by Vice President Purna Bahadur Khadka and General Secretary Gagan Kumar Thapa, while the CPN-UML delegation included Senior Vice President Ishwar Pokharel and General Secretary Shankar Pokharel. From the Maoist Centre, Narayan Kaji Shrestha and Barsaman Pun were in attendance, among others.

The meeting was convened at the request of Prime Minister Sushila Karki, who leads the interim government formed in the aftermath of the Gen Z movement. The government has already announced March 5 as the date for the upcoming national elections.

However, political divisions remain, with the CPN-UML demanding the reinstatement of the dissolved parliament, a stance that the Nepali Congress has also shown support for. Notably, top political leaders from the major parties were absent from the meeting.
