Prachanda Warns of Possible Uprising if Public Concerns Ignored

CPN (Maoist Center) Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ has warned that a major public protest could happen if the government does not take people’s concerns seriously.

Speaking at an event in Baglung on Friday, Prachanda said the government is moving in the wrong direction, even as public anger and frustration grow.

He explained that while his party has not yet started a protest, they are giving a serious warning. If the government keeps ignoring the people, he said, a large uprising could take place after the monsoon season.

Prachanda also reminded people of the decade-long civil war and said a similar situation could return if the government continues to ignore important issues, just like it did in the past.

He accused the current government of reversing many of the programs he started when he was prime minister.

Prachanda added that Maoist leaders are now working across the country to strengthen their party. He believes a stronger Maoist force is needed to fight corruption and lead the country toward socialism through an economic revolution.
