Nepal Communist Party (Maoist Centre) Chair Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ has proposed dissolving the party’s existing Central Committee and holding a special general convention this December.
Speaking at the ongoing office bearers’ meeting at the party’s central office in Parisdanda, Prachanda argued that a special convention was essential for building new leadership. He also suggested immediately convening a Central Committee meeting to form a general convention organizing committee.
Highlighting the need for leadership transition and party restructuring, Prachanda reiterated the Maoist Centre’s long-standing policy of breaking continuity in leadership.
Meanwhile, Vice General Secretary Janardan Sharma has recently voiced the necessity of leadership handover and organizational reform. Prachanda’s proposal is being seen as a response to Sharma’s position.
