Pushpa Kamal Dahal 'Prachanda', the Chairman of the main opposition party, the Maoist Centre, has called a meeting of opposition parties due to the ongoing disruption in the House of Representatives (HoR).
Since regular meetings in the House have not been possible, Prachanda has taken the initiative to bring opposition parties together for discussions.
The meeting is scheduled for 12 noon at the Parliament Building in New Baneshwor, as confirmed by Hitraj Pandey, the Chief Whip of the Maoist Centre.
Opposition parties are demanding the formation of a parliamentary investigation committee to look into the visit visa scandal. However, the ruling coalition has not agreed to this request.
As a result, the House has not been functioning properly ever since the issue came up.
On Saturday, Prachanda met with Nepali Congress President Sher Bahadur Deuba to find a solution to the deadlock in Parliament. They reportedly discussed how to end the obstruction in the House.
During today’s meeting, Prachanda is expected to update the opposition parties on his talks with leaders from the ruling side.
