CPN (Maoist Centre) Chairperson Pushpa Kamal Dahal "Prachanda" has said that the demands raised by Gen-Z youth should be addressed through Nepal’s constitution and parliamentary process, warning that seeking political solutions outside these frameworks would ultimately benefit regressive forces.

In a statement released from an undisclosed location, Prachanda acknowledged the legitimate concerns of Gen-Z protesters while condemning the violence, vandalism, and arson that occurred during demonstrations. He stressed that the youth movement’s demands were not against democracy, the constitution, or in favour of dissolving parliament, and emphasized that these demands can be fulfilled within the current legal framework.

Prachanda recalled the historical struggle for democracy and inclusivity in Nepal, noting that the current constitution, despite some weaknesses, ensures social justice and rights for marginalized communities. He warned that bypassing constitutional procedures in the current transitional situation would give regressive forces an advantage.

He also highlighted the need for serious review of constitutional implementation and suggested that only through amendments supporting inclusive democracy and a directly elected executive system could Nepal move toward a stronger, more advanced democracy. Prachanda called on all parties and the Gen-Z movement to act with sensitivity, restraint, and dialogue, while safeguarding public property and supporting peace and security.

The CPN (Maoist Centre) leader reaffirmed the party’s long-standing commitment to social transformation, equality, and democratic governance, and urged citizens not to be misled by false propaganda against the party. He also praised the role of the Nepali Army and security forces in maintaining order during protests and encouraged cooperation to ensure a peaceful, constitutionally guided resolution.
