Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli arrived back in Nepal today following his participation in the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) Summit in Tianjin, China.
Oli, leading a 23-member Nepali delegation, visited China on August 30 at the invitation of Chinese President Xi Jinping. During the trip, he held talks with President Xi and also delivered an address at the summit. Nepal has been associated with the SCO as a dialogue partner since 2016.
Formed in 2001, the SCO is regarded as one of the world’s largest regional organizations. Its members include China, Russia, India, Pakistan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, Iran, and Belarus. Afghanistan and Mongolia serve as observers, while Nepal is one of 14 dialogue partners alongside countries such as Turkey, Sri Lanka, Azerbaijan, Armenia, Cambodia, Egypt, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Maldives, Myanmar, Bahrain, and the United Arab Emirates.
