Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has said that taking an oath under the constitution and then refusing to accept it after coming to Parliament is a sign of dishonesty. He made this remark at the opening of the first ‘Himalayan Dialogue’ organized by Foreign Affairs Media.
PM Oli said Nepal fell behind in development due to the old feudal system, but the government is now working hard for progress and good governance. He criticized those wanting to bring back monarchy and stressed the importance of respecting the constitution, especially by those who are part of the Parliament.
He said genuine public demands would be addressed through dialogue and that protests like those by teachers should not be necessary.
PM Oli also spoke about Nepal’s role in protecting the environment, highlighting the importance of the Himalayas in preventing desertification and balancing the climate.
He emphasized the need for unity in Nepal’s diverse society and called for a focus on national interest with international responsibility.
Leaders and experts also discussed Nepal’s foreign policy during the event.
