Hitraj Pandey, Chief Whip of the Maoist Center, has accused the government of ignoring the rules and authority of the House of Representatives.
His comments came after some ministers failed to attend a scheduled discussion in the House on important issues.
Pandey criticized the government for poorly managing parliamentary matters. He pointed out that agenda items are often added and removed without any clear reason.
“The government is clearly disrespecting this House. It’s hard to understand what they’re doing,” he said. “We keep getting new agendas, and then they’re suddenly withdrawn. When we ask why, we’re told the ministers responsible aren’t here.”
He also said the government hasn’t responded to ongoing protests happening inside the House.
“These protests have been going on for a while, but there’s been no reaction. The Prime Minister is present, yet many ministers listed in today’s agenda are missing. Parliament must take this issue seriously.”
Pandey demanded that the discussion on the Appropriation Bill should not continue unless the concerned ministers are present. “We can’t move forward without them. That breaks parliamentary rules,” he said. “Why are MPs expected to follow rules, but not the government? That’s not fair.”
He also complained that he couldn’t suggest changes to the budget or recommend spending cuts because the necessary documents weren’t made available to him.
