Opposition parties in Parliament are increasing pressure on the government to form a high-level investigation committee to look into the visit visa scandal. They are calling for a detailed probe covering the terms of all home ministers from 2064 BS (when the Labour Act was introduced) up to now.

A joint meeting of opposition leaders was held today, led by CPN (Maoist Centre) Parliamentary Party leader Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’. Leaders from the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP), CPN (Unified Socialist), and others also participated.

RSP spokesperson Manish Jha said the meeting reached a clear agreement: the current Home Minister must resign to ensure a free and fair investigation. The leaders also believe the Prime Minister should address Parliament directly, take responsibility, and promise a proper resolution of the issue.

Chief Whips from the opposition parties will now meet the Speaker of the House to officially submit their three-point decision.
