A meeting of the opposition parties was held today in the office of Pushpa Kamal Dahal 'Prachanda', the leader of the main opposition party, at the Federal Parliament building in New Baneshwor. The meeting discussed problems related to visit visas and reached some conclusions to solve them.
The meeting, called by Prachanda, included leaders from the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP), Unified Socialist Party, and Nepal Socialist Party.
According to RSP lawmaker Manish Jha, the first phase of the opposition parties meeting has ended.
They decided to form a high-level investigation committee. This committee will look into the "visit visa case" from after the Labor Act 2064 (2007) up to the current Home Minister’s term. The committee will investigate and find solutions to end this issue permanently. All parties promised to work together on this.
The opposition parties also decided to ask Home Minister Ramesh Lekhak to clear the path and take necessary actions until the investigation results are available.
They said Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli should come to the parliament and show commitment by taking responsibility on this matter.
The opposition parties chief secretaries took these three-point conclusions to a meeting being held in the Speaker's office.
