Opposition leaders have finished internal discussions on the five-point proposal raised by the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) concerning the visit visa controversy. The proposal demands Home Minister Ramesh Lekhak’s resignation and the formation of a parliamentary committee to investigate alleged human trafficking under the cover of visit visas.

Key leaders from various opposition parties, including Barshaman Pun and Hit Raj Pandey from the Maoist Centre, Santosh Pariyar from the RSP, Rajendra Pandey from the Unified Socialist, and Prabhu Sah from the Aam Janata Party, took part in the meeting. Maoist leader Barshaman Pun said the opposition parties have reached a shared understanding on the issue. They now plan to hold talks with the ruling alliance, though they haven’t yet revealed the details of their agreement.

Meanwhile, House Speaker Devraj Ghimire is meeting with chief whips of all major parties to try and end the House deadlock. Parliamentary sessions have repeatedly been disrupted by opposition protests demanding action on the visit visa issue.
