Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli mentioned on Wednesday that his government is fully committed to fighting corruption and creating more jobs within the country to reduce the need for people to work abroad.
Speaking in the House of Representatives during a Q&A session, Oli said, “We follow a clear policy—don’t be corrupt and don’t let anyone be corrupt.” He added that action will only be taken if there is solid proof, not just rumors or accusations. “If there is real evidence, we won’t spare anyone involved in serious corruption,” he said.
On the issue of rising youth unemployment and the increasing number of people going abroad for work, Oli said the government has a long-term plan to create more local job opportunities. He announced that from 2025 to 2035, the country will observe a “Decade of Internal Employment Promotion.”
He said that key sectors like agriculture, industry, tourism, energy, and infrastructure will be used to create more jobs, with investments from both the government and private companies.
Oli also said that the current Prime Minister Employment Program will be reshaped into a larger national job creation plan. This new plan will focus more on training people with skills and helping them find work.
To help those returning from foreign jobs, the government has already started reintegration and entrepreneurship programs in 20 towns across Koshi and Madhesh provinces under the ReMi project.
He also mentioned that special programs are being launched to support the younger generation, especially Gen-Z, by helping them start their own businesses through startup support and training centers.
