Senior leaders of the Nepali Congress have intensified discussions to end the party’s ongoing internal disputes and set a clear timeline for the upcoming general convention.
On Thursday morning, leader Dr. Shekhar Koirala held a meeting with close party officials at his contact office in Bishalnagar. The discussion was attended by Vice President Dhanraj Gurung, General Secretaries Gagan Thapa and Bishwo Prakash Sharma, and Deputy General Secretaries Jeevan Pariyar and Badri Pandey. The meeting reportedly focused on ways to overcome the current deadlock and outline the party’s next steps.
Meanwhile, the central committee of the Nepali Congress is scheduled to meet this afternoon at 1 PM at the party’s headquarters in Sanepa, a continuation of the meeting held on Ashoj 28.
With party president Sher Bahadur Deuba currently in Singapore for medical treatment, Vice President Purna Bahadur Khadka is serving as acting president.
The internal tensions within the party, especially ahead of the upcoming by-elections, have raised concerns among cadres about its organizational strength and election strategy. Party members are closely watching today’s meeting to see how leaders address these challenges and move toward unity.
