The Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) index experienced a modest increase on the first trading day of the week. The index rose by 5.32 points, reaching 2,591.56.
A total of 93,86,721 shares from 327 companies were traded across 61,167 transactions, amounting to NPR 4.86 billion in turnover. Despite the overall growth, several sectors saw declines, including banking (down by 0.55%), finance (down by 1.04%), manufacturing and processing (down by 0.60%), microfinance (down by 0.14%), and mutual funds (down by 0.74%).
Conversely, some sectors showed positive movement, with the development bank sector up by 0.02%, hotel and tourism increasing by 0.60%, hydroelectric by 1.67%, and the investment group rising by 0.39%. Additionally, life insurance gained 0.27%, non-life insurance inched up by 0.04%, trading grew by 1.14%, and other groups saw a slight increase of 0.10%.
Three companies hit the positive circuit limit, with their share prices climbing by 10%. These included Upkar Microfinance Financial Institution Ltd, Dordi Khola Hydroelectric Company Ltd, and Green Ventures Ltd. On the flip side, Narayani Development Bank Ltd saw its share price drop by 8.88%.
In terms of transaction value, Janaki Finance Company Ltd recorded the highest turnover, totaling NPR 19.9 million. Meanwhile, Prabhu Bank Ltd led in the number of shares traded, with a total of 383,506 shares changing hands.
