The vote counting for the 27th central committee election of the Nepal Bar Association is still underway. Voting took place last Saturday to choose the new committee.

Out of 9,957 eligible voters, about 80% cast their votes. There were 57 candidates running for the 25 positions on the committee.

So far, votes have been counted in areas including Jhapa, Ilam, Biratnagar, Morang, Sunsari, Dhankuta, Rajbiraj, Udaypur, Parsa, Hetauda, Baglung, Siraha, Sarlahi, Rautahat, and Bara.

In the race for president, Senior Advocate Vijay Prasad Mishra from the democratic, progressive, and inclusive lawyer group has received 869 votes. His opponent, Senior Advocate Raman Shrestha from the professional lawyer group, has got 529 votes, giving Mishra a lead of 340 votes.

For the position of general secretary, Kedar Koirala, also from the democratic, progressive, and inclusive group, has secured 871 votes, while his opponent Yagyamani Neupane from the professional lawyers' group has received 456 votes.
