NC Acting President Khadka to Address Media Amid Convention Row

With internal tensions continuing to mount, Acting Nepali Congress President Purna Bahadur Khadka is scheduled to face the media today over the party’s disputed special general convention.

The press conference follows Thursday’s Central Working Committee decision to urge an immediate halt to the proposed convention. Party insiders say Khadka will reiterate the leadership’s appeal for leaders and cadres to suspend the event.

Leader from the dissident camp, Dr Shekhar Koirala, is also expected to attend the press meet, reflecting the depth of the divide within the party.

The debate over holding a special general convention has sharply split the Nepali Congress, with the rift widening as the date announced by the general secretaries draws nearer.
