Nationwide Vitamin A and Deworming Campaign Scheduled for Kartik 20 and 21

The government has announced that children across Nepal will receive Vitamin A capsules and deworming tablets on Kartik 20 and 21 and as part of its annual national health campaign.

The program, organized twice a year, is usually conducted on Kartik 2–3 and Baisakh 6–7, but this year’s schedule has been postponed due to Lakshmi Puja falling on the same dates, the Ministry of Health and Population confirmed.

According to Dr. Vivek Kumar Lal, Director of the Family Welfare Division, the campaign aims to reach 2.8 million children under the age of five with Vitamin A and 3 million children with deworming tablets nationwide.

To ensure the campaign’s success, around 52,000 female community health volunteers and 15,000 health workers will be mobilized. In the previous phase, about 90.5% of targeted children received Vitamin A and 87.5% received deworming medicine, the division reported.
