National Assembly Chairperson Narayan Prasad Dahal has initiated efforts to break the federal parliament’s deadlock and resume Upper House activities.
On Friday, Dahal met with leaders of major political parties at the Federal Parliament Secretariat in Singha Durbar to discuss calling a new session and reactivating parliamentary committees. The meeting included Law Minister Anil Kumar Sinha, Maoist Centre leader Narayan Kaji Shrestha, Congress representative Anand Prasad Dhungana, and UML’s Gopal Prasad Bhattarai.
Dahal emphasized the need to continue discussions on pending bills, while constitutional experts urged dialogue to help ensure peaceful elections. The parliament has remained stalled since the Gen-Z protests in September damaged the New Baneshwor building, and meetings are now planned at the Agriculture Ministry Hall in Singha Durbar.
