Minister Bhattarai Stressed The Need To End Party Influence Within Universities

Education, Science, and Technology Minister Bidya Bhattarai has emphasized the need to end party influence within universities. 

Speaking at a meeting of the Education, Health, and Information Technology Committee on Friday at Singha Durbar, Minister Bhattarai addressed the discussion on the Shaheed Dashrath Chand Health Science University Bill, 2080.

She stated that the bill should aim to eliminate political pressure and influence within universities. She stressed the importance of formulating the bill in such a way that it clearly determines the future direction of universities. "The current political influence and pressure within universities should be eradicated through this law," she said, adding, "We need to think about creating this law in such a way that it defines who an academician is, just like we defined it in the Nepal University Act."

Minister Bhattarai further explained that by referring to the existing university laws, the definition of an academician could be established. She pointed out that the bill should be drafted to ensure that the universities operate free from political interference.
