Mahendra Bahadur Shahi, a lawmaker from the CPN (Maoist Centre), has criticized the current government, saying it is not serving the people but rather helping corrupt individuals, brokers, and smugglers. Speaking during Monday's meeting of the House of Representatives, Shahi said that the government has become a tool for those who take advantage of the system, not those who need support.
Shahi claimed that the government is making laws and policies that benefit middlemen—people who act as go-betweens to gain personal profit through unfair or illegal methods. He said that these people, who could not sleep peacefully during former Prime Minister Prachanda’s earlier term, are now sleeping comfortably because the current leadership is protecting them.
“This government was not formed with honest intentions,” Shahi said. “It was made to serve the interests of middlemen, corrupt people and smugglers. The actions of this government clearly show that it is not for the people.”
He also warned that the leaders in power are pushing the country into deeper crisis by ignoring the real needs of the public. According to Shahi, the government is no longer a protector of the people, but a supporter of those who harm the nation.
