Lower House Meeting Today in the Midst of the Visit Visa Scandal

At 11 am on Tuesday (May 27). a meeting of the House of Representatives is taking place where Minister for Finance Bishnu Poudel will present the findings of the fiscal year 2025-26. However, with the opposition parties preparing to raise the issue of another huge scandal—the visit visa scam that has dragged the Home Ministry leadership itself into controversy—rocking the government, the meeting may turn out to be a tense affair.   

As per the tentative schedule of the parliament, Ministers for Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation; Energy, Water Resources and Irrigation; and Forests and Environment will respond to questions coming from lawmakers. 

At the meeting, Minister for Women, Children and Senior Citizens Navalkishor Sah Sudi will present the  Bill on Children (First Amendment), 2082. 

Minister for Education, Science and Technology, Raghuji Pant, will propose deliberations on the Tilganga Eye University Bill, 2081. 

This schedule comes at a time when opposition parties are preparing to raise the visit visa scandal that has drawn Minister for Home Affairs Ramesh Lekhak into a huge controversy. Rastriya Swatantray Party has formally decided to raise the issue strongly, appealing lawmakers from the Rastriya Prajatantra Party and the CPN (Maoist Center) to join forces for the cause.
