The period courtroom drama Kesari Chapter 2: The Untold Story of Jallianwala Bagh, starring Akshay Kumar, R Madhavan, and Ananya Panday, has successfully crossed the ₹50 crore mark at the Indian box office on its eighth day. The film, directed by Karan Singh Tyagi, was released in theatres on April 18, 2025.

 

According to officials, the film earned ₹4.42 crore on Day 8, pushing its total collection to ₹50.67 crore. The movie had collected ₹3.5 crore on Day 7, showing a noticeable jump in collections despite facing competition from two other major releases — Ground Zero featuring Emraan Hashmi and Phule starring Pratik Gandhi and Patralekhaa Paul.

 

Kesari Chapter 2 tells the story of Sir C Sankaran Nair, a prominent lawyer and freedom fighter, who took a stand against the British after the 1919 Jallianwala Bagh massacre. Akshay Kumar plays the lead role of Nair, while R Madhavan portrays Adv. Neville McKinley and Simon Paisley Day appears as General Dyer. Ananya Panday plays the role of Dilreet Gill.

 

The film is backed by Dharma Productions, Leo Media Collective, and Cape of Good Films.
