The minimum temperature in Kathmandu Valley dropped to 8.0°C early this morning, according to the Weather Forecasting Division. The temperature was recorded at 5:45 am. On Tuesday at the same time, it was 11.5°C, so today was noticeably colder.

In the past week, the valley’s minimum temperatures have changed frequently. It was 9.0°C on Monday, 9.1°C on Sunday, 7.5°C on Saturday, and 12°C on Friday.

Weather experts say clear skies at night usually make the temperature drop by morning. However, cloudy nights help keep the temperature slightly warmer.

The Division records daily minimum and maximum temperatures across the country, including in Kathmandu. The minimum temperature shows how cold it was from night to early morning, while the maximum temperature shows how warm it was during the day.

Although temperatures change from day to day, experts say the overall weather is getting warmer as winter is coming to an end. Cloudy weather during the day can keep temperatures lower, while sunny days help increase the heat.
