Cold conditions strengthened in the Kathmandu Valley on Sunday as the minimum temperature dropped slightly compared to the previous day.
The Weather Forecasting Division reported 6.6°C at 5:45 am today, lower than Saturday’s 7.0°C recorded at the same time. Saturday’s official minimum had later settled at 6.7°C by 8:45 am, the standard time used to confirm the daily minimum. Officials say today’s final reading may drop further.
While temperatures across the country continue to decline overall, minor day-to-day fluctuations persist. Meteorologists explain that cloud cover keeps nights warmer, whereas clear skies allow heat to escape, causing early-morning temperatures to fall more sharply.
The Division measures temperatures daily from multiple stations nationwide, officially recording the minimum at 8:45 am and the maximum at 5:45 pm.
