Nepali Congress central member Gyanendra Bahadur Karki has emphasized that party unity is essential at a time when the Congress is facing increasing internal and external pressure. Speaking at the ongoing central committee meeting, Karki said the public still trusts the party, but efforts are being made to weaken that confidence.
“Congress is under attack from all directions, and in some cases, the challenges are coming from within. In this situation, we must move forward united,” he said. Karki added that during his visits to districts and public interactions, he found that people’s trust in Congress has not declined.
He criticized unnecessary debates over whether the party’s general convention will happen on time. “There’s no need to question the timing. It’s our collective responsibility, not just the party president’s, to ensure it happens,” he said. Referring to the last convention, Karki reminded that President Sher Bahadur Deuba had conducted it within the legal timeframe.
Karki praised Deuba as a leader trusted not only in Nepal but internationally, saying the country expects much under his leadership.
He also highlighted the importance of organized communication through social media and urged local-level party units to engage more effectively online to shape public opinion.
