Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has traveled to Washington DC to meet and discuss with President Donald Trump. The Israeli Prime Minister's office has announced that the second round of talks for a ceasefire with Hamas will continue in Washington DC.
After Trump began his second term as President, Netanyahu is the first foreign leader to meet with him. In the first phase, an agreement was made to release 33 people held by Palestine and about 2,000 people held in Israeli prisons. Now, in the second phase of the ceasefire agreement, more hostages are set to be released from both countries with the hope of ending the war entirely.
The 15-month-long Gaza war had already killed more than 47,000 people. On his way to the US, Netanyahu spoke with journalists at Tel Aviv airport, accusing Iran of encouraging terrorism in the Middle East and said he would also discuss ways to reduce its influence with Trump.
