Israel has claimed that top Hamas leader Mohammad Sinwar has been killed. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said Sinwar, one of the main planners of the October 2023 attack and a senior Hamas leader in Gaza, was killed.
The war in Gaza started after the attack two years ago. As the conflict reached 600 days, Prime Minister Netanyahu praised the army, calling Sinwar’s death a major achievement.
Hamas has not commented on the claim. Earlier, in October 2024, Sinwar’s brother, also a top Hamas leader, was killed in an Israeli attack.
Despite a food crisis in Gaza, Israel has continued its attacks. The United Nations and other international organizations have criticized the attacks, saying many people were injured during strikes on food distribution centers.
Israeli forces have also reportedly fired on civilians waiting for food aid.
