The International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) has reached southern Gaza to receive the four bodies Hamas has agreed to hand over to Israel. According to the Israeli military, the Red Cross team will collect the coffins placed by Hamas at a designated location in the area.
Hamas has announced that among the four bodies is Nepali student Bipin Joshi, who was among those taken hostage. Reports say Hamas still holds the bodies of 26 other hostages.
In a joint statement, the Israeli military and intelligence agencies said they are prepared to recover more bodies in the coming days. The Israeli army confirmed that DNA tests will be carried out before handing the remains over to the victims’ families.
