The meeting of the House of Representatives has been postponed until Thursday, Asar 5 (June 19). The meeting was halted after the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) continued to obstruct the session. The decision was shared by Speaker Dev Raj Ghimire during Tuesday’s session.
The RSP, along with the Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP), has been obstructing the House, demanding the resignation of Home Minister Ramesh Lekhak. They are accusing him of being involved in the recent ‘visit visa’ scandal and are also asking for the formation of a high-level investigation committee to look into the matter.
To resolve the deadlock, Speaker Ghimire held discussions with the chief whips of five major parties today. According to the Parliament Secretariat, the Speaker has given until Wednesday to hold further discussions and find a solution. The meeting will resume only after efforts for agreement are made.
