At least 49 people have died due to floods in the eastern part of South Africa. Among them, four children lost their lives when a school bus was swept away by the flood. Four more people are still missing.
According to Lubabalo Oscar Mabuyane, the head of the Eastern Cape province, search and rescue operations are still going on in all affected areas. Heavy rains over the past week have caused landslides, forcing hundreds of families to leave their homes. Important infrastructure has also been damaged.
BBC reported that heavy rain, snowfall, and cold winds have mainly affected parts of the Eastern Cape province.
