A member of parliament (MP) has drawn the attention of rulers toward the erosion of public trust in all three organs of the Nepali state—the executive, legislature and the judiciary.

Speaking in the House of Representatives on Sunday, Sanjay Kumar Gautam, an MP from the ruling Nepali Congress, said people were losing trust in the current government, parliament and the judiciary. Even a coalition of the two largest parties in the parliament—the Nepali Congress and the CPN-UML—is not working properly, he said, venting out his 'feelings'.

"The parliament is also not working as it should. People do not seem to have hope or trust in the judiciary, either," he said and called on all top leaders to come together and build a national unity agreement, adding that only then can the country "move forward".

If they make further delays, the purpose of the system, federalism and government will be defeated, he forewarned.
