To mark National Rice Day, Global IME Bank Limited has introduced a special loan scheme to support paddy farming across the country.

The bank says the loan is designed to help achieve the government’s plan to make Nepal self-reliant in rice production within the next two years, as announced in the latest national budget.

Through this scheme, farmers can borrow up to Rs 2 million to buy rice seeds, fertilizers (both chemical and organic), farming tools, and other essential supplies.

The goal is to help farmers make better use of arable land, increase their income, and encourage more people to take up agriculture as a respected and professional career.

To celebrate the day, the bank also organized a rice planting event in Tokha Municipality, Ward No. 1, near the Radha Krishna Temple. Bank staff and local residents joined hands to plant rice together in the fields.

Speaking at the event, CEO Surendra Raj Regmi said that Global IME Bank is committed to supporting farmers through such initiatives. He added that the new loan will motivate farmers to grow more rice and help boost national production.

Regmi also emphasized the importance of modernizing agriculture and making it more business-oriented to uplift the farming community.
