Former President of Nepal, Bidya Devi Bhandari, who is on a 10-day visit to China, reached Beijing on Sunday. Today, she addressed a conference organized by the International Department of the Communist Party of China, where political parties from neighboring countries were present.
In her speech, she talked about the political philosophy of "People’s Multiparty Democracy" introduced by Madan Bhandari, and the vision of "Prosperous Nepal, Happy Nepali" proposed by Prime Minister and UML Chairman KP Sharma Oli.
She emphasized the need for structured dialogue between Nepali political parties and the Chinese Communist Party, and called for more issue-based discussions. She also suggested increasing exchanges among young leaders and exploring the role of political parties in ensuring regional peace and stability.
Bhandari said that the dialogue between neighboring parties initiated by the Chinese Communist Party is a sign of Asia’s awakening. Although countries are different, she stressed that they must work closely together for development.
She expressed Nepal’s desire for an equal, transparent, and long-term relationship with China. She also said that UML and the Chinese Communist Party share ideological and strategic ties, and reaffirmed Nepal’s commitment to the One-China policy.
Bhandari is scheduled to hold high-level meetings today. Liu Jianchao, head of the International Department of the Chinese Communist Party, also addressed the event. Bhandari will return to Nepal on June 2 after visiting Gansu province and Chengdu in Sichuan.
