Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has said that the former king, Gyanendra Shah, is to blame for the violent protests that took place during the pro-monarchist forces’ protests in Kathmandu on Friday (March 28), leading to the death of two youths and loss of properties.
During the democracy day on Fagun 7 (February 19), he recalled while addressing the House of Represenstatives and the National Assembly, the former king delivered a speech calling one and all to come forward in his support. Soon after, programs were organized to ‘welcome’ the former king and instigate the masses.
He referred to the May 9 rally to welcome the king upon his arrival at the Tribhuvan airport in Kathmandu from Pokhara, the former king’s invite to an unwanted individual at his residence and the latter’s appointment as the commander of the movement for the restoration of the monarchy and subsequent mobilization in violent protests.
