While efforts are underway to stop the war between Ukraine and Russia, the European Union has decided to impose new sanctions on Russia.
At a meeting of the EU’s defense and foreign ministers in Brussels, EU leaders agreed to increase pressure on Russia to support a ceasefire.
According to AFP, nearly 200 Russian oil-carrying ships have been included in the new sanctions.
These ships are accused of breaking oil bans set by Western countries and selling Russian oil in the international market.
The EU warned that if Russia does not agree to an unconditional ceasefire, the United States will also face consequences.
The bloc said it is working on more new sanctions to further pressure Russia.
