Nepali Congress (NC) leader Dr. Shekhar Koirala stated that democracy can only grow if there is a proper balance between the executive, legislative, and judicial branches of government.

He made this statement at a program held in Kathmandu on Sunday to mark the 103rd birth anniversary of former administrator Badribikram Thapa. The event was organized by the Karmayogi Badribikram Thapa Memorial Service Trust.

Dr. Koirala warned that democracy could be at risk if the key bodies of the state do not work independently. He also said that decisions made by the Constitutional Council should be fair and based on the national interest, not personal gain. He emphasized that public officials should always put the country first.

Praising Badribikram Thapa, Dr. Koirala described him as a calm and respected administrator who worked with integrity even during difficult times. He said that such honest administrators are hard to find today, especially when public administration is often affected by political pressure.

Likewise, Minister for Labour and Employment Sharat Singh Bhandari said that Thapa will always be remembered for his dedication and contribution to society and the nation.

Senior politician CP Gajurel also spoke at the event, saying that it is important to honor and promote the legacy of people who fought for democracy.

The program was led by Trust Chairperson Prof. Dr. Suresh Raj Sharma. Cultural expert Tejeshwor Babu Gwanga and artisan Urmila Garga also shared their thoughts on Thapa's work and the Trust's role in supporting democracy and social service in Nepal.
