The Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA) has filed a corruption case against former Chief Administrative Officer of Kathmandu Metropolitan City, Pradeep Pariyar, and six others. The case, registered at the Special Court, is related to alleged irregularities in the sewer construction project under the Samakhusi Corridor.

Currently serving as the Director General of the Department of Information and Broadcasting, Pariyar has been charged alongside bidding committee officials Raveenman Shrestha, Shivraj Adhikari, Basanta Acharya, Namaraj Dhakal, Janardan Giri, and Uttam Dahal.

According to the CIAA, a company named Samanantar Nirman Sewa had bid ₹18.09 crore for the project, which was lower than the ₹22.40 crore bid by Kalpavriksha-Kohinoor JV. Despite the lower bid, the contract was awarded to the more expensive bidder. The CIAA claims this resulted in a loss of over ₹4.31 crore in public funds. After receiving a complaint, the CIAA investigated and decided to take legal action against the seven individuals.
