Nepali Congress Vice-Chairperson Bishwprakash Sharma stated that Congress is not a party stuck in its old history but one that has evolved with time.
Addressing the pledge assembly organized by Nepali Congress on Wednesday at Tirhutia Gachi in Janakpur, he said that those who have changed and returned have done so through the party’s special convention.
He remarked, “We take pride in the achievements of the old Congress, but when time demanded change, Congress adapted. Political parties have changed, and so have we. That is why, when voters see the old, they recognize a Congress that takes pride in its history. And now, those who have returned have done so after the special convention. At this time, the question is not who wins, but who governs the country. Managing the country is the real issue.”
He further explained that whether Congress wins or loses elections is not unusual. The real question today is not just about winning or losing, but who can uphold societal harmony.
“Congress has won elections many times; victory is not something extraordinary for us. Congress has also lost elections, which is not new either. But today, the question is whether the current system will lead to a win or loss, and more importantly, who can maintain social harmony,” he added.
