Home Minister Ramesh Lekhak has said that the Nepal Citizenship Bill will be passed by the House of Representatives on June 28 (Asar 14).
Speaking at the meeting of the State Affairs and Good Governance Committee held at Singha Durbar on Wednesday, he said the bill should not be delayed any longer and needs to be passed soon.
"According to the information I have, the bill will be presented in the House of Representatives on the 14th. We will pass it the same day," Minister Lekhak said. "Let’s finalize the issue of citizenship as soon as possible. If possible, let’s conclude the bill within this month."
He also mentioned that the committee had already finalized the bill after brief discussions, and now it is ready for approval by the House.
Additionally, Minister Lekhak requested the committee to help create an environment to pass the Nepal Police-related amendment bill within this month. He said that the police bill is also a priority of the government.
