The Netra Bikram Chand ‘Biplav’-led Nepal Communist Party has announced its withdrawal from the Samajwadi Morcha, citing that the alliance has lost its relevance.

Issuing a statement on Wednesday, party General Secretary Biplav said that the purpose of the Samajwadi Morcha has ended after three of its member parties united to form the new Nepal Communist Party.

He explained that although the Morcha was established in 2080 BS with the aim of promoting national sovereignty, progressive transformation of the state, and fighting corruption, it failed to move forward with the desired momentum.

“The Samajwadi Morcha, formed by four parties last year to advance national independence, progressive transformation, and people’s livelihood while combating corruption, carried out some important programs,” the statement reads. “However, the pace of work did not meet expectations. Following the Gen Z uprising, Nepal’s political landscape has changed significantly, and new alliances are emerging. In this context, the relevance of the Samajwadi Morcha in its current form has ended.”

The Biplav-led party has thus formally separated from the Morcha, emphasizing the need for new political discussions and realignments in the changing environment.
