Nepal Communist Party leader Netra Bikram Chand ‘Biplav’ has praised the Gen-Z movement for challenging what he called a growing misuse of power in the country. Speaking at a large public gathering in Bhrikutimandap on Thursday, he said young people have helped wake up the nation’s politics.
Biplav warned that Nepal cannot have fair and peaceful elections as long as activities funded by foreign money continue to create tension and division among the people. He accused some groups of using outside support to spread corruption and instability.
The communist leader also said that federalism will only be meaningful when every community and class gets equal opportunity. He suggested that Nepal should consider a directly elected executive system so that the government becomes more accountable to the people.
Commenting on the unity among communist parties, Biplav said that coming together without clear political understanding could cause more harm than good. He admitted that the Socialist Front has not been able to take a strong stand against the current problems in the country.
Rallies from different parts of Kathmandu had gathered at Bhrikutimandap before the mass meeting took place.
