A tragic plane crash happened in Ahmedabad, India, where 241 people lost their lives. The Air India plane was flying to the United Kingdom with 242 passengers on board. The aircraft, a Boeing 787 Dreamliner, crashed into a residential area shortly after takeoff.
Air India has confirmed that only one person survived the accident. The survivor is Vishwas Kumar Ramesh, a British citizen of Indian origin. He was sitting in seat number 11A. His video and boarding pass have been made public, showing how lucky he was to survive. Vishwas is now being treated in a hospital, and India's Home Minister has visited him and wished for his quick recovery.
According to Air India, there were 169 Indian citizens, 53 British, 7 Portuguese, and 1 Canadian passenger on the flight. Sadly, none of them survived except Vishwas.
Following the crash, Tata Group, which owns Air India, has announced compensation of ₹1 crore (10 million rupees) for the family of each person who died in the accident. The company has also promised to cover all medical costs for the injured and provide every necessary help to their families.
This is one of the worst air disasters in India in recent years, leaving many families in deep sorrow.
