A 'Prachanda' Assessment of KP Oli Government's Performance

That the KP Oli government has been under-performing is public knowledge. In fact, this is part of a disturbing, decades-long trend that has seen several ruling dispensations of every imaginable permutation and combination perform below par and collapse well before completing their respective tenures. Against this backdrop, the CPN (Maoist Center), the main opposition in the Federal Parliament, has come up with a scathing assessment of the current government’s performance, in line with the rhetoric of party Chair Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’.

That the KP Oli government has been under-performing is public knowledge.

In fact, this is part of a disturbing, decades-long trend that has seen several ruling dispensations of every imaginable permutation and combination perform below par and collapse well before completing their respective tenures.

Against this backdrop, the CPN (Maoist Center), the main opposition party in the Federal Parliament, has come up with a scathing assessment of the current government’s performance, in line with the rhetoric of party Chair Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’.

”KP Oli netritwako sarkar purna rupma asafal bhaisakeko chha,” is the conclusion of the Maoist party, which translates into: The KP Oli-led government has failed completely.

Speaking at a press meet at the party headquarters in Paris Danda, Agni Prasad Sapkota, the vice-chair and spokesperson for the party, that has been in the government more than once in the course of 20 years or so, said as much on Tuesday: Bad governance and incompetence on the part of the government has the people frustrated and seething with anger. Amid all this, reactionary elements are becoming active.

Citizens’ anger against this government has crossed all limits, the firebrand leader went on: Teachers, doctors, nurses, victims of micro-finances, cooperatives and even government employees are staging protests. Employees of local levels have been protesting for long. No sector of the state has been able to work peacefully under this government.

Describing the government as a total failure, Sapkota prescribed the government to address the protesting teachers’ demands by enacting the long-pending School Education Bill through fast-track.

Perhaps the Maoist party can offer some more nuggets of wisdom to the government (all for free, of course) on addressing other demands coming from other groups on different stages of their protests and movements.

It's indeed time for the government to remove the ear plugs, realize that it's not on autopilot, listen more, talk less and deliver on its promises.
