Nepal has achieved a historic milestone in its petroleum exploration efforts with the completion of its first-ever drilling project in Dailekh.
The Department of Mines and Geology announced that drilling to a depth of 4,200 meters in Jaljalemakul, Bhairabi Municipality-1, has successfully extracted samples. The drilling, which began on 28th Baisakh, is part of the government’s exploration project funded by a 2.5 billion rupee grant from China.
Geologists are now analyzing the collected samples for potential natural gas deposits. If the results are promising, further economic analysis and production processes will follow, with the exploration expected to conclude within the current fiscal year.
