A delegation from the Teachers' Federation, which had set out to formally meet newly-appointed Education Minister Raghuji Pant, returned without entering the Ministry of Education, Science and Technology at Singha Durbar.
Minister Pant had invited the protesting teachers for dialogue in an attempt to address their concerns. However, despite the scheduled meeting, the delegation turned back midway.
Federation President Laxmi Kishor Subedi stated on social media, “Today, on 2082 Baisakh 12, we were on our way for a formal meeting with the Honourable Minister. But due to special reasons, we returned without entering the ministry.”
Subedi did not elaborate on the reasons behind the decision to withdraw. He also expressed surprise regarding the 25-member list from the ministry for access to Singhdurbar, stating that the federation had no role in preparing the list.
The incident has raised questions about communication and coordination between the ministry and the federation at a time when the education sector is witnessing unrest due to ongoing protests.
