Rain, Thunderstorms and Snowfall Expected in Nepal’s Hilly and Mountainous Regions

Nepal is currently seeing the effects of western and local winds, along with moist air coming from the Bay of Bengal.
 

According to the Department of Hydrology and Meteorology, the weather in the hilly areas, including Koshi province, is partly to mostly cloudy, while the rest of the country is mostly clear to partly cloudy.
 

Some areas in Koshi have already experienced light rain with thunder and lightning.
 

This afternoon, hilly areas across the country will likely stay partly to mostly cloudy, with chances of light to moderate rain, thunder, and lightning in several places. Similar weather may also occur in a few other parts of the country.
 

There is also a chance of light rain and snowfall in the mountain regions of Koshi, Bagmati, Gandaki, and Karnali provinces. Some areas in the Terai region of Lumbini Province might experience wind and thunderstorms.
 

Tonight, skies will stay partly to mostly cloudy across the country. Light to moderate rain with thunder and lightning is expected in the hilly areas of Koshi, Bagmati and Gandaki. Some areas in Lumbini, Karnali and Sudurpaschim may also see light rain.
 

Light rain or snowfall could occur in one or two places in the mountainous regions of Koshi, Bagmati and Gandaki.
