Police Seize Over 1,600 kg of Marijuana in Jhapa, Two Arrested

A team of Armed Police Force personnel intercepted two trucks carrying a total of 1,636 kg of marijuana (Gaja) and arrested two individuals from Buddhashanti rural municipality-4 along the Mechi highway while they were transporting the illegal cargo from Ilam to Jhapa in trucks numbered Ko 1 Kha 5001 and Pra 1-02-002 Kha 0584 on Friday. 

Police identified the arrested individuals as Mahesh Rai of Shahidbhumi municipality-4 (Dhankuta district) and Ganga Bahadur Basnet (37) of Maijogain rural municipality-2 (Ilam district). Apart from getting hold of 57 bags of marijuana from the trucks, police also seized Rs. 87,880 in cash and five mobile phones from the suspects.

The APF has handed over the two individuals along with the seized cargo to the Jhapa district police office for a further investigation and legal action.
