The Nepali Congress (NC) has announced a three-day mourning period to honor the late former minister Aftab Alam, who passed away early Saturday morning while undergoing treatment at Kathmandu Medical College.
An emergency meeting of the party’s Central Working Committee decided that from November 8 to 10, party flags at central, provincial, and district offices will be flown at half-mast. All party offices will remain closed on November 9 in Alam’s memory, and condolence books will be placed at offices for 13 days for members and supporters to offer tributes.
Alam, who had previously faced criminal allegations linked to a 2008 incident, was released by the Birgunj High Court in May. Shortly after, he suffered a brain stroke and had been in deteriorating health until his death.
