Today, Nepal is celebrating National Democracy Day with various programs. This day marks the end of the autocratic Rana rule and the establishment of democracy on Falgun 7, 2007 BS.
Based on the foundation of Falgun 7, democracy was reinstated on Chaitra 26, 2046 BS. Later, on Baisakh 11, 2063 BS, Nepal achieved a democratic system. Following this, on Jestha 15, 2065 BS, the first Constituent Assembly declared Nepal a federal democratic republic.
The second Constituent Assembly promulgated and implemented the constitution on Ashoj 3, 2072 BS. Since all these major transformations stemmed from the historic Falgun 7, this day holds special significance.
Although Nepal has become a federal democratic republic, many citizens express dissatisfaction, feeling that the system has not met their expectations. On this occasion, the government has declared a public holiday today.
